Stranded somewhere in Central Europe, John Drake must reach the Swiss border as soon as possible. He gets a lift from a girl who is driving westward at high speed, but they are stopped by a police patrol and questioned. Drake puts on his glasses, with a small radio receiver in the sidepiece, and attempts to call up the M.9 agent in Zurich with a radio-transmitter disguised as a cigarette lighter in his hand.
