EPISODE DETAILS:

After a break from filming which lasted around a month, the Danger Man crew began the third season of episodes with Ralph Smart’s script ‘To Our Best Friend’ on which McGoohan directed. This episode was the 33rd fifty-minute episode and the seventh to be filmed at Shepperton Studios between Monday 17th and Monday 30th August 1965.
The M9 operation in Bagdad has a leak which is bad news for the department and even worse news for Drake, as the Bagdad outfit is managed by Bill Vincent, one of Drake’s closest friends. However as Drake’s presence there is unlikely to arouse suspicion Drake agrees to the assignment. Bill Vincent and his wife Leslie are pleased to see Drake and insist that he stays with them.
Drake stages a trap, only informing Bill Vincent of his plans to raid the home of a local politician, to test his friend’s innocence. But Drake is expected, conclusive proof of his friend’s treachery. Drake confronts Vincent who protests his innocence and is hurt that Drake did not take him into his confidence.
Drake’s suspicion then moves to Leslie and so follows her and soon discovers she is meeting Ivan, a Russian agent. Drake devises a plan to trap Leslie who then admits to being a Moscow trained agent who was provided with a Canadian identity and married Bill so she could spy on his M9 operations for Russia. Little did she know that she would actually fall in love with her husband dividing her loyalties.
Informed about the truth of his wife, a disillusioned Bill Vincent thanks Drake for clearing his name and meets up with Leslie telling her that he forgives her. But another M9 agent has been ordered to dispose of the Vincents, but can Drake save them before it’s too late?
