Born in Kent on February 11th 1918, Michael Balfour appeared as Will in The Prisoner episode 'Living In Harmony'. He previously appeared as the thug 'Gaston' in the fifty-minute Danger Man episode 'Have a Glass of Wine'.
Unfortunately, Balfour will probably always be best remembered for being with Bonar Colleano in the car crash that claimed the American actor's life. He began his screen career in the 1938 television production of The Marvellous History of St Bernard (in which fellow Prisoner actor Keith Pyott also made his debut). His film credits are extensive and include No Orchids For Miss Blandish, Obsession, Cage of Gold, Genevieve, The Belles of St Trinians, The Sea Shall Not Have Them, Carry On Constable, Kaleidoscope and Candleshoe. His latter films included Batman and The Krays. He was just as prolific on television, with among many others, appearances in The Vise, Hancock's Half Hour, The Splendid Spur, Beware of The Dog, Danger Man, Dixon of Dock Green, Rogue's Gallery, Z Cars and The Onedin Line.
Balfour died of cancer on October 24th 1997 aged 79. |
