A veteran of stage, screen, radio and TV, character actor Nigel Stock was born in Malta on September 21st 1919. Stock appeared as Major Barrington in the Danger Man episode 'Loyalty Always Pays' whom Drake befriends in order to gain access to the ministry that Barrington protects. He then starred in The Prisoner episode 'Do Not Forsake Me, Oh My Darling' in which his and Number Six's minds are swapped, Stock having far more onscreen presence than McGoohan in this episode allowing McGoohan to go to America to star in the film 'Ice Station Zebra'.
Between 1964 and 1968, Stock made a household name for himself playing the role of Dr Watson in the BBC TV series of Sherlock Holmes'.
Stock died of a heart attack on June 22nd 1986 aged just 66. |
