Shepperton Studio Locations  [Back to the 'On Location' Page]

When the Danger Man crew moved to Shepperton Studios they used the grounds and backlots for many of the episodes such as 'The Black Book', 'English Lady Takes Lodgers', 'Are you going to be More Permanent?', Dangerous Secret' and 'The Man with the Foot'. This pages contains a recent aerial view of the studios showing the approximate location of some of the more memorable locations used. As many of these locations have been demolished I cannot be 100% sure of the exact location. I was lucky enough to have a tour of the studios back in 2009 so am certain of the locations that remain and by re-watching episodes I have made educated guesses as to the others.

Littleton Park House, Shepperton Studios Littleton Park House
Featuring in many episodes as a Hotel or Grand House, Littleton Park House is one of the few locations that remain in the grounds of the studio.

In 'The Black Book' Littleton appears as the house of 'General Carteret' where Drake learns of his next mission to identify the blackmailer of Sir Noel Blanchard.

In 'Dangerous Secret' it is used to establish the Hotel due Chateau in France where Colin Ashby has fled to. Later in the same episode the 'rear' of the house is used as Barbier's antique shop where his car is parked.

When Drake meets Kronenberg at the park in 'Are you going to be More Permanent?' the side of Littleton Park House can be seen in the background.

Another entrance of Littleton Park House is seen in 'Say it with Flowers'.

Littleton Park House, Shepperton Studios Ornate Fountain & Bench
In the episode 'Are you going to be More Permanent?' Drake meets Kronenberg at a park.

Although the Fountain and gardens have been demolished the exact location is known because the side of Littleton Park House can be seen in the background when Drake and Kronenberg are both seated on the bench.

This location is now the car park of Littleton Park House which is often used for wedding ceremonies and wedding receptions.

River, Littleton Park Grounds, Shepperton Studios River
The wooded area of Shepperton Studios contains a river, or it may be a large lake, I can't be sure. Anyway, this is seen in a few episodes.

In the episode 'English Lady Takes Lodgers', Drake and Emma Stanway make their getaway by swimming away from Collinson and Phillipe.

In 'The Black Book' the wooded area and river are seen when Drake and Sir Noel Blanchard follow the blackmailer's instructions.

Boathouse, Littleton Park Grounds, Shepperton Studios Boathouse in Woods
In 'The Black Book' Serge takes Drake to the boathouse where he has hidden the black book, unfortunately the pair are followed and Serge is killed.

The boathouse is also used in 'Say it With Flowers' as the undertaker's workshop.

Surprisingly this wooded building is no longer around, but by watching footage repeatedly I have estimated its location. It is situated to side of the bridge with the distinctive balustrade, which is seen in the episodes 'The Black Book' and 'Dangerous Secret'.

Water Tower, Littleton Park Grounds, Shepperton Studios Water Tower
Seen only in the episode 'Dangerous Secret' the water tower is still in existence today. In fact during my visit to Shepperton Studio in 2009 I photographed the water tower which had just been painted brown and used in the film 'The Golden Compass'.

It is thanks to the fact that the water tower is still there that we can identify the location of some other landmarks which have not been so lucky.

Greenhouses, Littleton Park Grounds, Shepperton Studios Site of Greenhouses
In the episode 'Dangerous Secret', two children enter greenhouses which are being used for virus research experiments. Luckily they are both saved before it's too late, but this prompts the resignation of Colin Ashby.

The greenhouses were demolished some years ago, but because the 'legs' of the water tower are seen in the background we know exactly where they once were.

The colour picture opposite showing the greenhouses before they were demolished was supplied by the 'Guide to Avengerland' website.

Former Studio Gates, Shepperton Studios Former Studio Gates
Another location used only in the episode 'Dangerous Secret' as the entrance gates to the 'Virus Research Unit'.

These gates are the entrance to the backlot of Shepperton Studios on Laleham Road and Littleton Lane. The gates have recently been replaced with more modern ones.

Backlot at Littleton Park Grounds, Shepperton Studios Backlot
The backlot at Shepperton Studio also contained some buildings that were used in many ITC productions.

Once such building can be seen in the episode 'Dangerous Secret' as an old, abandoned, derelict French farmhouse. The same building was next seen in 'The Man with the Foot' as Drake's Spanish getaway.

The colour picture opposite is from another ITC production, supplied by the 'Guide to Avengerland' website. Unfortunately this building has since been demolished.

Studio Gates, Littleton Park Grounds, Shepperton Studios Former Internal Gates

In the episode 'Dangerous Secret' two children enter the grounds of the' Virus Research Unit'.

They are seen squeezing under barbed wire fencing before shimmying across the bridge's balustrade.
The gates would have originally separated the grounds of Littleton Park House from the studio's backlot. On my visit in 2009 I noticed that these iron gates have been replaced with solid metal ones that are accessed via an electronic keypad.

The colour picture opposite is from another ITC production, supplied by the 'Guide to Avengerland' website. It shows the bridge's balustrade which featured in many episodes, such as 'The Black Book'.

Ornate Pavilion, Littleton Park Grounds, Shepperton Studios Ornate Pavilion

This pavilion or stone gazebo was only featured in the episode 'The Black Book'.

Sir Noel Blanchard is following the instructions set by his blackmailer's and finds his next set of instructions in an urn within this building. Drake following, is later seen driving by.

Sadly this pavilion has been demolished but was part of the Littleton Park House estate. Its location is estimated, but in the background you can see the river and balustrade which is known to be in the wooded area of the studio grounds.
