EPISODE DETAILS:
‘A Man to be Trusted’ was the first script to be written by Swansea-born Raymond Bowers and was originally entitled ‘El Tenient’ which translates as ‘The Lieutenant’.

Two M9 agents have been killed on the Caribbean island of Topico Bay and Drake is sent to investigate. He meets up with local police lieutenant ‘Mora’. He needs his help but does not trust him and adopts the unusual tactic of discussing with him at length throughout the story the possible motivations that the other characters might or might not have for selling out the two M9 operatives. Drake is never sure whom he can trust. In fact the issue of trust weaves and winds throughout the story.

‘A Man to be Trusted’ was the 11th episode in the second series and was filmed at MGM Borehamwood between the 10th and 25th August 1964. When the captions were completed on Tuesday 8th September the episode had been fittingly renamed to ‘A Man to be Trusted’, a line used twice in the episode.
