EPISODE DETAILS:
|
The original story behind the 29th second series episode was written by new writer Michael J Bird, which seasoned Danger Man writer Donald Johnson developed into the finished script. ‘Judgement Day’ was the third episode to be filmed at Shepperton Studios between Monday 24th May and Friday 4th June 1965.
Dr Garriga initially seems to be the persecuted party with his laboratory in Bir Azhad being blown up by a mail bomb in the opening sequences. However Dr Garriga has a chequered past and his real identity is revealed, Hans Christian Drager, the chief medical officer at the Dortmunda concentration camp in Germany who experimented on Jewish prisoners in the cause of bacteriological warfare. Not entitled ‘Judgement Day’ for nothing, Garriga’s past is about to catch up with him.
‘Judgement Day’ contained no location shoots. The backlot at Shepperton was used as the Arabian city although some library footage was used, including some establishing shots of the Middle East such as ‘Aden’ in the ‘Yemen’.
